I Got My Courtesy Copy Today

12/4/2009

Under the current version of the contract PublishAmerica has its authors sign, the author isn't entitled to any free courtsey copies of the book:  That's different than how it was under my contracts for Dawn, the Alpha Dog and The Gate of Heavenly Peace.  I was entitled to two courtsey copies of each.  But, PublishAmerica has had a rough year like most other companies in this economy.  This has been confirmed by my sister who lives in Maryland where PublishAmerica is headquartered.  So, like I say, the contract for The Best Day of My Life, So Far didn't entitle me to any courtsey copies.  But, after the new book become available on PublishAmerica's website, they emailed me that they were sending me one free courtsey copy.  And, today, I got it in the mail.  So, I thank them for doing that.  I don't know when I'm going to start reading it though.  Too afraid of how many typos I missed during the editing.  Oh Well.

Have To Remember To Remind Beth

11/19/2009

Intrepid newpaper reporter Bethany Shoemaker Hendricks just emailed me:  She asked me to remind her in a couple months that we're going to do the story on The Best Day of My Life, So Far in February.  It'll coincide with when I hope to be able to promote the new book with signings at local book stores.  With my first two books, I held book signings at the local Borders, Borders ExpressTaylor Books, and others.  I hope to do so again with the new book.  After the Holidays, I'll start contacting the local bookstores and see if we can schedule times for me to come do signings.  I'll keep all of you posted.

Available for Sale

11/13/2009

The Best Day of My Life, So Far  went on for sale on PublishAmerica's website Thursday:  Their website is http://www.publishamerica.net/product87635.html. I've had a few unexpected expenses lately, so I really can't afford to buy my own books for book signings, etc.  That is, at least, not for right now.  If I have the money, I'll work on promoting the book in a couple months. One thing I do have in the works fror right now, though, is another newspaper article by my good friend Bethany Shoemaker Hendricks.  She did the articles on both Dawn, the Alpha Dog and The Gate of Heavenly Peace.  She has agreed to do another article on The Best Day of My Life, So Far.   Got her editor to agree too.  Beth's a good friend.  I've already emailed telling her that the book's out.  So, hopefully, she and I can start working on the article within the next few days.  Look for it in The Huntington Hearld-Dispatch

Hardcover Editions

10/5/2009

I mentioned this over in News, but it appears that most of you don't have News entries on a feed that lets you know that I've posted something new:  So, after having separate conversations with my good friends Stuart and Chris -- you know who you are, guys -- in which they each said that they didn't know that Dawn, the Alpha Dog and The Gate of Heavenly Peace were now out in hardcover until I told them, I decided it's time for me to post something about the hardcover editions here in the Blog.  Here it goes.  Yes, PublishAmerica decided to make most of its authors' books available in hardcover editions.  On the top of that, if an author agreed to buy at least five copies of the hardcover edition, at the author's discount, PublishAmerica agreed to let the author make minor changes to correct typographical errors that were overlooked when the book got sent to print for the original edition.  I didn't chose to correct typos in The Gate of Heavenly Peace because, as far as I know, there's only one or two typos in it, if that.  But, I did choose to correct typos in Dawn, the Alpha Dog because I knew that in one of the best stories, "Something for Dawn to Read," there were three nasty typos that I really hated.  So, I went in and corrected those for the hardcover edition of Dawn, the Alpha Dog.  If you'd like to buy the revised hardcover edition, click here.  If you'd like to buy the hardcover edition of The Gate of Heavenly Peace, click here.
